Sad news for the Spanish equestrian family. Last Monday, the Spanish rider Cristino Torres passed away at the age of 57 after fighting against a long disease.
Born in a equestrian family, Tino’s life revolve about horses. As a show jumping rider, he had his brightest moments in the last 16 years. He competed with the Spanish team in the World Equestrian Games of Jerez 2002 and he won two of the ten Nations Cup where he participated: at Gijon 2001 and La Baule 2002. He was bronze medal in the Spanish Championship and he won so many national and international competitions.
In addition, Tino had an important schooling activity. He developed a large part of the equestrian sporting career of Marta Ortega. During that time, he managed the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre while Marta won the Spanish Young Rider Championship. Later he moved to Barcelona and he continued riding and teaching so many riders, who have been able to enjoy their knowledge and experience.
Married with Mimi and father of two girls, Maya and Ana that also ride, Tino will be always remembered as a humble, constant, passionate person, with an endearing character that has always managed to get the best in everyone around him.
Our thoughts go out to all Torres’s family.
