The Movistar Trophy and the NH Collection Trophy kicked off the competition programme at the CSI A Coruña

The international show jumping competition got underway this morning in Casas Novas with the first two events of the CSI1*. These were the Movistar Trophy and the NH Collection Trophy, won by the Spanish rider Gonzalo Busca and the Mexican rider Nirvana Hank Amaya respectively.

NH Collection Trophy

The highlight of the morning programme on the opening day of the CSI A Coruña 2026 was the NH Collection Trophy, in which 25 rider-horse pairs had to clear 1.40-metre jumps against the clock. Thirteen participants managed to complete the course without knocking down any fences, and among them, the fastest was a young Mexican rider: Nirvana Hank Amaya.

Following in the footsteps of her trainer, Gonzalo Busca, who had won the previous event, Nirvana took the top spot on the podium of this NH Collection Trophy with a blisteringly fast round riding the French mare “Iztaccihuatl Hacal”, finishing five seconds faster than the runner-up, Miguel Álvarez-Buylla from Asturias, riding “Roxanne V”. Third place went to the Colombian rider Daniela Jaramillo on “Diapason de Bloye”.

The manager of the NH Collection A Coruña Finisterre Hotel, Agustín Collazos Martín, presented the trophy to the winner, Nirvana Hank Amaya, after the Mexican national anthem had been played in her honour.

Movistar Trophy

The CSI1* event got underway at ten o’clock in the morning with the Movistar Trophy, a two-phase competition in which 24 pairs took part and in which a Spanish male rider and a Spanish female rider, both riding young mares, were the standout performers.

The Basque rider Gonzalo Busca, who has been living in the United States for four years, was the winner. The rider from San Sebastián triumphed on the 8-year-old “Ouija”, completing the second phase in 26.21 seconds, whilst fellow Basque rider Uxue Arruza finished second with a time of 27.22 seconds, riding the 7-year-old mare “Talent van het Appelsvoordehof”. Third place went to the Czech rider Renee Krejci, riding “Ivetta del Maset”.

The Movistar Trophy was presented to Gonzalo Busca by María Alonso Ludeña, manager of large enterprises at Telefónica, accompanied by Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport.

The programme for this opening day of the CSI A Coruña will continue into the afternoon with two further events, both CSI4* competitions: the Veolia Trophy (1’40) and the Caixabank Trophy (1’50).
