The Spanish Team Will Jump In CSI 4* A Coruña
International Show Jumping Competition A Coruna has been chosen by the federation responsibles as preparatory meeting of national team that, from 23 August to 7 September, will compete at WEG in Normandy. The Spanish fleet offers significant hope for fans, given the great moment of our riders, who are getting very good results in major international commitments, as in the Nations Cup of Lummen, La Baule, St. Gallen and Falsterbo.
One of the main objectives of the WEG is to qualify for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, which Spain has failed in the past three editions disputed in Athens, Beijing and London. Marco Fuste, director of jumping spanish federation hopes to qualify, even though he knows it will not be easy to achieve. "Our expectations are making the best in the WEG and our goal would be, at best, achieve Olympic qualification for the Olympics in Rio in 2016, which achieved the top five teams of the WEG."
So, the outdoor arena of Casas Novas, very similar to the arena of Normandy, will be one of the last test before the World Cup in Normandy for many riders, who will enjoy the 9 tests scheduled throughout the three days of competition.
ENTRIES
More than 70 riders and 180 horses will come to Casas Novas throughout the week. They come from Argentina, Egypt, Chile, Qatar, Brazil, Canada, South Africa and Singapore, among others, and will compete for three day. Among them is the Belgian Philippe Le Jeune, current world champion, and multiple Grand Prix winners of previous editions: French Julien Epaillard in 2006, Dutch Henk van de Pol in 2008 or Spanish Sergio Alvarez Moya in 2012.
