All Set For The Opening Day Of The Competition

Everything is ready for A Coruña´s CS I****, after passing the vet inspection last Thursday afternoon, the 164 participating rides are now resting in their stables at Casas Novas, ready to dispute the three daily competitions taking place this weekend in the equestrian centre. On Thursday afternoon all the horses passed the obligatory vet inspection which accredits them fit to take part in such a demanding sports competition. During the inspection documentation accrediting each animal’s identification had to be presented, after which both national and international riders who had arrived in Galicia early that morning took their rides out to the training arena for a gallop. Among the 70 participating riders who took advantage on Thursday and took their horses out into the training arena were some of the most acclaimed such as Richard Sponner and Edwinga Tops Alexander. While they trained technicians were laying out the course preparing the way for the following day Friday at 12 pm., the opening day of the competition. THE A CORUÑA CSI**** KICKS OFF WITH THREE COMPETITIONS The first day of the meet, Friday 27th July, the CSI**** launches at 12.00pm with a minor competition, the MÓSTOLES INDUST`RIAL TROPHY, a two phased- class competition with max. 1.35m .obstacles. The course is divided in two phases and only those horses that have not been penalised in the first part or phase of the competition will be able to jump in the second part. The winning binomial will have completed the course in the second phase investing the shortest time with the least number of faults. A medium class competition takes place at 15.15 h, the WARSTEINER TROPHY, a Fault & Time 1.50 m. obstacles competition run against the clock without jump off . In this case the winning couple will have managed to complete the course with the least number of faults and best time. The PROSEGUR TROPHY will Be the last competition of the day, an exciting top class competition with 1.45m obstacles run against the clock with jump -off . This is a combined competition in which riders tied for points dispute their classification with a jump-off against the clock where Speed and zero faults are key to win.
