René López takes a win in the Massimo Dutti Trophy and will be in the Longines FEI World Cup of Sunday
The international jumping competition of Casas Novas began in a dazzling way, with a high level of riders, good results for the Spanish participants and a memorable performance of Lorenzo.
21 riders who competed in the big test of the day, the Massimo Dutti Trophy, competed for qualifying for the Sunday’s the World Cup. There were only place for 13, so they all have fight till the end.
With the stands at full capacity, the riders showed their competitiveness and great displays of technique and speed. After a hard dispute, the winner was the rider René López, who stopped the chrono in 38.21 on the back of Twig du Veillon. The Colombian came out last in the jump off of the test and handled the pressure of brilliant way. The test was extremely competitive, as there is only a few tenths of difference among the top five classified of the jump off. Nice performance the ones of the Colombian, who was also in the podium of the previous test.
In second place and within short distance, the Dutch Maikel van der Vleuten was placed riding VDL Groep Arera C. The third position was for the Spanish Sergio Álvarez Moya.
In addition to these riders, among the classified for the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping CaixaBank Trophy thanks to his good performance in this test, Aldrick Cheronnet, Jane Richard Philips, Lauren Hough, Athina Onassis o Carlos López standed out.
After the competition, the equestrian show did not stop at Casas Novas, as the equestrian artist Lorenzo closed the opening day with a brilliant and exciting performance that made the Galician public lift their seats.
