Olivia Álvarez winner of the first class, Casas Novas Trophy, in the 38th CSI Coruña
The Spanish Olivia Álvarez García opened the podium this morning at the start of the CSI4 * / 2 * A Coruña. Olivia, 13 years, won the Casas Novas Trophy after winning the 2* event, disputed under two phases table, with obstacles at 1.25 meters. The young rider took to the arena Lord du Mont Milon, a 20 year old horse who won the Grand Prix of A Coruña in 2009 with Jesús Garmendia. A confirmation of the good moment of Olivia, bronze in the Spanish Children's Championship and Spanish representative in the European Championship of this same category.
Also on the podium were the American Caroline Mawhinney and the Galician rider, Javier "Fino" González Fraga. The Galician rider came out in eighth place to the arena to set a time of 28.67 seconds with Bubalú, chrono that made him provisional leader. But the faithful of Casas Novas know that nothing is done until the end, and this was confirmed by Olivia Álvarez García and Lord du Mont Milon by completing the second phase in 26.65 seconds and snatching the first place. The only one that endangered Olivia's triumph, although without success, was the American Caroline Mawhinney, who in her second course, with Flashback, stopped the clock in 27.89 seconds. Until that moment she was third with Kyara van't Breezerhof.
With this trophy started today in the equestrian center of Larín (Arteixo, A Coruña) the thirty-eighth edition of the event, which will fill with emotion this weekend. As for today's program, from 12:30, the Engel & Völkers Trophy, also from the CSI2 *, will follow with 1.40 meters fences. In the afternoon, it will be the turn for the Eurostars Trophy, at 15:00 hours, first test of the CSI4. Will close the day, at 17:30, the Massimo Dutti Trophy, also 4.
