Spanish dominance on the first day of the CSI1* Casas Novas
José Fumero Hernández, Javier González Fraga and Celia Cobo stood on the podium in the NH Collection Trophy, the big event of the CSI1*, after Kevin González de Zarate's victory in the Inaugural Trophy.
The Casas Novas equestrian complex opened its doors this Friday morning, December 6, to kick off a new edition of the International Show Jumping Competition, part of the World Jumping Cup.
Equestrian enthusiasts will be able to enjoy a program with high level tests throughout the weekend, which began with the Inaugural Trophy. A test disputed on heights of 1.30m, in which 29 riders participated, winning the Spanish rider Kevin Gonzalez de Zarate with Hermes de l'O, finishing the course in 64.71 seconds.
The podium was completed by the American rider Alexandra Crown, achieving a time of 64.97 seconds with Starlett, and the pair formed by the Portuguese Angela Cunha Carvallo and Donner, after closing the time in 67.22 seconds.
After the first test of the day, fans were able to enjoy the NH Collection Trophy, disputed at heights of 1.40m from 16:30 in the afternoon.
The national talent shone among the 17 riders who took to the indoor arena of the Ca-sas Novas equestrian complex. Of all of them, 13 qualified for a tiebreaker dominated by José Fumero Her-nández and Figuier du Roc, who achieved the best time by completing the course in 32.14 seconds.
The second fastest was the local rider Javier González Fraga, “Fino”, with a time of 32.96 seconds with TikTak de Pravia. After him, the fastest was the Cantabrian Celia Cobo, the young 17 year old rider from Cantabria, with a time of 33.04 seconds, thus ensuring her presence on the podium.
It is also worth mentioning the role of the Galician rider Roi Calviño, being the fourth fastest of the test with a time of 33.26 seconds, jumping with Enjoy.
After these first two tests of the CSI1*, the International Show Jumping Competition will give way to the first two tests of the CSI 5*W on Friday afternoon, with the Caser Grupo Helvetia Trophy and the Caixabank Trophy.
