Guy Williams broke the beam to raise the Grand Prix Caixabank CSI4* A Coruña
A tornado called Guy Williams swept through the Grand Prix CaixaBank yesterday - Sensormatic Trophy CSI4* A Coruña. Williams is the first Briton to register his name on the Casas Novas list of winners, an honor to add to the more than 33,000 Euros in which the prize is valued.
Guy and Rouge de Ravel were the last pair into the ring. It seemed impossible for anyone to make a better time less than the leading 44 seconds: Alexandra Paillot aboard Blonde Polias had set the time in 44.05s, the brave Julien Epaillard on Alibi of the Roque had clocked a time of 44.60s, and Marlon Modolo and his mount J-Figyelem had stopped the clock at 44.64s. Williams didn't think it was possible or not.
He was simply true to his key principle ‘you must be willing to win every time’ and by staying incredibly calm he
sealed the test in 43.35 seconds.
A huge victory for this British rider to draw this super weekend to a close. At the start of the 4* test, this same pair raised the Eurostars Trophy. Also with this 14-year-old French stallion, which he has been riding since 2017, Guy won the GP CSI Mons-Ghlin Belgium on 7th July.
After the French contenders Paillot and Epaillard, the top five was completed by the Brazilian Marlon Mondolo, who
Finished third in the Eurostars Trophy, and another Welsh competitor, Aldrick Cheronnet, who also placed second in the Massimo Dutti Trophy.
THE SENSORMATIC TROPHY WENT TO ALBERTO MÁRQUEZ GALOBARDES
Although he had no luck in the jump-off, Alberto Marquez Galobardes was rewarded for his good performance in the most important test of the weekend. The fact that he was the highest-qualified Spanish rider - he was
8th in the final table- made him deserve the Sensormatic Trophy, which he received at the awards ceremony.
Alberto rode Ucello Massuere and was the only Spanish contender in the final round.
TRIBUTE TO DIEGO RAMOS MANEIRO
It was the last test and just before the jump-off of the Grand Prix 4* A Coruña. There wasn't any best place or better time to pay the well-deserved tribute of Casas Novas to Diego Ramos Maneiro. Member of A Coruña’s school, Diego is one of the young riders with the greatest projection in the international scene, and has just claimed European junior champion with the national team in Holland, in addition to being awarded with the individual fourth place. The rider made an emotional return of honour in front of a particularly enthusiastic crowd that gave him a standing ovation.
