Javier González Fraga shines at Casas Novas
The Spanish rider achieved victory in the Prosegur Security Grand Prix and second place in the Movistar Trophy this Sunday.
The final day of the CSI A Coruña began with two 1-star events, the Movistar Trophy and the Prosegur Security Grand Prix, which served as a warm-up for the most anticipated event of the weekend, the Casas Novas Grand Prix — Longines FEI Jumping World Cup.
Prosegur Security Grand Prix
The CSI1* Grand Prix sponsored by Prosegur Security took place at 14:00 in the indoor arena at Casas Novas. Twenty-seven participants competed in this event with 1.40m obstacles.
Four participants qualified for the final jump-off: Amelie Gachoud, Miguel Álvarez Buylla Rodríguez, Pilar Mateos de Urbina, and Javier González Fraga.
Going out last and with the crowd closely watching his performance, Javier González Fraga was the great champion of the competition. The Galician rider was competing at home this weekend and did not miss the opportunity to shine in front of his crowd. His victory with Sonic JGF in the Prosegur Security Grand Prix allowed him to step onto the podium for the fourth time in this CSI1*, after finishing second in the Movistar Trophy, first in the Malard Trophy, and second in the Porsche Trophy.
He also secured the Caser Grupo Helvetia Trophy, awarded to the best Spanish rider of the event, thus rounding off a dream final day for him. Javier received the Grand Prix trophy from Javier Martín Azcano, Business Director of Prosegur Security, and the award for best Spanish rider from Juan Carlos López Bustabaz, Commercial Director of Agents at Caser Grupo Helvetia.
The runner-up in the Grand Prix was Spanish rider Pilar Mateos de Urbina, who had been performing exceptionally well throughout the weekend’s competitions. Riding Delia Mouche, she achieved a time of 42.55 seconds in the jump-off, securing second place.
Another podium for Amelie Gachoud, who demonstrated her excellent level in A Coruña for the third consecutive day. The British rider competed with Petrossian BC, completing the course in 41.17 seconds, with one rail down.
Movistar Trophy
Two hours before the Grand Prix, the first spectators to arrive at Casas Novas on this Sunday morning were able to enjoy the Movistar Trophy, a two-phase event with 1.30m jumps in which we saw 23 riders competing.
The fastest in the event was the young Spanish rider Elena Vázquez Arrojo. At just 15 years old, Elena is one of the most talented rising stars in Galician equestrian sport, and she proved it in front of her home crowd in the Movistar Trophy. She achieved a time of 41.91s in the first phase and 24.90s in the second, riding Gypsy Cardento. She received the trophy by María Alonso Ludeña, Commercial Manager of Multinational Large Clients at Movistar.
With an excellent round, Elena managed to surpass the rider who had been dominating the event until then, Javier González Fraga, “Fino.” The veteran Spanish rider climbed onto the podium for the third time this weekend, following his victory in the Malard Trophy and his second place in the Porsche Trophy. He completed the first phase in 43.6s and the second in 25.71s, competing with Obolensky JGF.
The podium was completed by another Spanish rider, Amaia Ucelay Iturriza, who delivered a great round with Diamand du Breche, finishing the event with a time of 41.26s in the first phase and 25.75s in the second.
Casas Novas Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Grand Prix
The perfect finale to this competition will be the Casas Novas Grand Prix — Longines FEI Jumping World Cup. The trophy that riders and spectators have been awaiting all the weekend.
The Grand Prix (17;00 p.m) will be contested with 1.60m heoghts and will include a jump-off to crown a new champion in A Coruña. The event can be followed live on ClipMyHorse.TV and on the official event website,www.csicasasnovas.com.
